I decided to purchase the CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+RM for my home setup, so that I could do PoE for cameras and have multiple landing points for different ISPs, including some that used fiber optic. Similarly if you have primarily wireless devices you could probably have a single RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN at home.īut if you are like me and have a gigabit+ ISP and a desire for multiple SFP+ ports and PoE ports to share this >1gbps service, it can be difficult to find a single base device for your routing and switching needs.

If your ISP is only 50mbps, you could leave out the CCR2004 above and only have the CRS354 or CRS328 PoE. The reason for this type of setup is to be able to take advantage of the full speed of your ISP that requires a fast CPU AND have lots of ports for many hardwired devices, some of which are PoE like cameras. For example pairing a Mikrotik CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS (powerful CPU) with a Mikrotik CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+RM (high density switch with significantly less powerful CPU).
